Congratulations to our 2024 Award Winners!
The 2024 Distinguished Achievement in Access Services Award is presented to Hilary Thompson.
Hilary Thompson is the Director of User Services & Resource Sharing at the University of Maryland Libraries, where she has worked in various access services positions since 2012. In her current role, she provides vision and leadership for front-line services and operations at the main library and high density storage facility. During her time at UMD, Hilary has been active within the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI), holding leadership positions in both consortia’s resource sharing peer groups and contributing to strategic initiatives such as UBorrow visioning for the BIG Collection and USMAI’s migration to Alma. She has also been an active member of the Reference & User Services Association’s (RUSA) Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS), including serving as the 2023-2024 chair and initiating and guiding the recent reorganization of its standing committees. Whether working locally, consortially, or nationally, Hilary brings a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development to all of her endeavors.
This award recognizes an individual for outstanding achievement, contributions, and commitment to the field of Access Services. Hilary will receive a plaque and a $1000 award presented at the 2024 Access Services Conference Reception. The award is co-sponsored by Atlas Systems, Inc. and Access Services in Libraries, Inc.

The recipients of the Support Staff Travel Grant will receive a plaque, $1000, and free registration to attend the 2024 Access Services Conference. Their recognition is sponsored by Access Services in Libraries, Inc. and they will receive their awards at the Reception of the 2024 Access Services Conference.
